On March 16, ANTHEM A presented its Fall/Winter 2026 collection during Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo.

Marking the brand’s fifth anniversary, the collection was built around the theme INNER UNIVERSE.” Designers Mariko Suzuki and Nao Yoshida began by diving deeply into the inner world of the self, confronting the emotions and contradictions that reside within the subconscious.

Within the realm of the subconscious—often overlooked in everyday life—duality constantly exists side by side: front and back, light and shadow. Rather than denying these opposing emotions and inner conflicts, the collection embraces the strength required to live while accepting them. This philosophy was ultimately translated into the language of clothing.

The opening look appeared as if cutting through the silence of the venue: a black wool coat paired with a substantial mouton scarf. Cinched at the waist with a belt, the silhouette evoked the presence of a traveler, quietly suggesting the complex emotions that lie within. A dark brown leather coat with a burnt-caramel mouton collar added sensual warmth, embodying the season’s central thesis—the coexistence of opposites.

A meticulous commitment to materials and processing lies at the core of ANTHEM A. A boa blouson with a leather-like surface created through hand-crack processing and a hybrid blouson combining an MA-1 and hoodie were constructed using soft cut-and-sew fabric. The result is a striking contrast between the heaviness of the finish and the lightness of the textile.

This distinctive texture is achieved through a highly specialized artisanal process. Fabric is first cut into one-meter squares and sprayed with a specially formulated dye developed exclusively for the brand. It then undergoes high-pressure pressing, hand-applied crack processing, and sun-drying. The final texture emerges only through the collaboration between brand and craftspeople.

A knit pullover featuring distorted stripes created by randomly punctured needles also stood out as a memorable piece. Developed using experimental techniques, the knit’s three-dimensional texture requires approximately 11 hours to complete a single garment. Its burnt-orange hue and crack-like surface resembled fissures in the earth, giving the piece a striking sense of power.

The brand’s signature NO-BRAINER PANTS” also returned this season.

First introduced in 2021, the design pursues a balance between the appearance of tailored slacks and the comfort of easy pants. Designed to be worn beyond gender boundaries, the piece appeared throughout the collection with updated details.

ANTHEM A also approaches color without hesitation. A vivid fuchsia mohair cardigan, an olive-yellow vegan-fur blouson, and a bright green quilted coat. As these colors emerged from the darkness of the runway, the garments transcended mere clothing and began to evoke emotions beyond words.

As the show progressed, the sense of emotional intensity deepened. A woman’s look featuring an olive velvet dress layered with an off-white feather boa scarf, followed by the finale look pairing a gold metallic skirt with a black shirt, effortlessly crossed the boundary between the everyday and the extraordinary—embodying the richness of ANTHEM A’s signature mixture style.

At the heart of ANTHEM A’s creations lies a close collaboration with craftspeople. Around 40 artisans are involved in the production process, with garments taking shape through the intersection of their techniques and emotions. According to the designers, it is precisely these traces of handwork and layered human sentiment that define the essence of the brand.

The Fall/Winter 2026–27 season also marks the beginning of a new narrative of self-exploration for ANTHEM A. The collection serves as the first chapter of a two-part series, representing “the self as perceived subjectively.” The following Spring/Summer 2027 season will explore “the self seen objectively,” and together they will complete a story of encountering a renewed identity.

What lingered on the runway was an indescribable afterglow—one ultimately captured in the designers’ words: The emotions that emerge from each individual are what become that person’s anthem.
