On July 8, Chanel presented its Fall/Winter 2025 Haute Couture Collection during Paris Haute Couture Week. Marking the maison’s 110th anniversary in haute couture, the collection was crafted by its in-house team and served as a quiet reaffirmation of Chanel’s core values: luxury, history, and elegance.

The venue for this commemorative show was the Salon d’Honneur inside the Grand Palais. Set designer Willo Perron recreated a minimalist yet refined space inspired by the legendary couture salons at 31 Rue Cambon. The setting evoked memories of the very room where Gabrielle Chanel held her presentations between 1918 and 1970, blending seamlessly with the modern aesthetic of Jacques Grange’s 2021 renovation.

Guests received a copy of the book Chanel Haute Couture along with their invitations. Edited by filmmaker Sofia Coppola, the book is curated from her perspective with the intention of portraying haute couture as a living cultural expression. Regarding the project, Coppola explained, “I thought, I’d love to put together images of how they’re worn in life and who are the women that wear them,” adding, “I also wanted to look at the codes of Chanel, which I love, throughout the years that you can identify with: a bow or a camelia or certain colors and the tweed.”

The collection opened with an all-ecru palette. Soft ivory and ecru tweeds were sculpted into midi dresses and structured separates, demonstrating the maison’s unparalleled craftsmanship. These pieces were paired with feather-trimmed skirts and coats, as well as shearling-inspired tweeds, emphasizing the textural sophistication and expressive power of the materials. The fabrics captured movement and light, creating moments of pure visual enchantment on the runway.

One of the most memorable elements was the reinterpretation of Chanel’s symbolic codes. Golden wheat motifs, a favorite of Gabrielle Chanel and long associated with prosperity, appeared in delicate embroidery around necklines, in chiffon, and as ornate jewel-like buttons. This natural symbol brought a sense of rustic elegance and grounded the collection’s romantic atmosphere.

Silhouettes drew inspiration from 1920s flapper style, featuring low waistlines and midi lengths. Feathers and sheer lace added delicate ornamentation, while maintaining the refined sophistication that defines the Chanel aesthetic. The looks were completed with knee-high and over-the-knee flat boots inspired by the British countryside, highlighting a graceful fusion of nostalgia and modernity.

The finale featured a traditional Chanel bride. Dressed in a floor-length white gown adorned with delicate sequins and wheat detailing, she wore a headband-style veil that channeled the classical charm of the 1920s. Instead of a clutch, she carried a bundle of wheat, symbolizing harmony with nature and a new vision of beauty aligned with the spirit of sustainability.
