On February 9, FETICO presented its Fall/Winter 2026 collection at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo. Titled The Contours of Grace, the collection reexamines the notion of elegance inherent in women’s dress, reinterpreting the spirit and style of women who lived through the socially restrictive era of the 1920s and 1930s from a contemporary perspective.

The collection draws inspiration from three pioneering figures: painter and interior designer Vanessa Bell, model-turned-war photographer Lee Miller, and Gabrielle Chanel, who reshaped women’s fashion by introducing a new balance between freedom and discipline. What unites them is a shared image of womanhood—one defined not by loud declarations, but by quiet conviction and unwavering will. At FETICO, this mature sensibility is translated into clothing through architectural silhouettes and refined, delicate details.

One of the most striking aspects of the runway was the approach to tailoring—garments that follow the contours of the body without ever seeking to dominate it. Menswear-derived elements such as checked and pinstriped suits, double-breasted jackets, and long coats were transformed through cinched waists and vertical paneling, accentuating the female form. Signature ribbon ties and lingerie-inspired details layered into these looks created a distinctive balance where discipline and sensuality, strength and softness, coexist.

Material choices quietly underpin the collection’s worldview. High-quality textiles, including dense wool twill produced in Bishu, maintain sculptural forms while moving fluidly with the body. Wool-bonded coats and trenches, along with outerwear crafted from French leather, stand as symbols of FETICO’s commitment to uniting practicality with elegance.

The color palette remains restrained, anchored in black, white, gray, brown, and beige. Embroidery, lace, gathers, and waist-shaping details are applied sparingly, allowing the image of a mature woman to emerge with composure and restraint—never tipping into excess.

Accessories and small leather goods further reinforce the brand’s attention to everyday life. New shoes featuring original buckles, fresh colorways of the signature THE ARCH MINI bag, and classic items such as hats, gloves, and barrettes are presented not merely as decorative accents but as enduring companions designed to be lived with over time.

This season, designer Emi Funayama portrays a vision of a “mature woman” who embodies strength and refinement, suppleness and autonomy. By preserving FETICO’s core language—lingerie-inspired detailing—while pursuing greater everyday functionality and emotional uplift, the collection clearly articulates the brand’s unwavering values in an era of constant change.
