Onitsuka Tiger Fall/Winter 2026: Between Everyday and Extraordinary

On February 25, Onitsuka Tiger presented its Fall/Winter 2026 collection at Milan Fashion Week.

This season’s theme is “The Aesthetics of Ma.” In Japanese, ma does not simply mean empty space. It refers to a meaningful interval—the delicate balance that exists between things, between people, and between the everyday and special moments. This collection was built around how that “in-between” could be expressed through fashion.

Tension Between Formal and Sport

The runway opened with looks that moved fluidly across different wardrobes: formal, casual, workwear, and sportswear. A gray tailored suit styled with high socks and sneakers presented the precision of tailoring alongside the ease of street style. Similarly, a military-inspired long double-breasted coat paired with high-top sneakers skillfully balanced discipline and freedom.

Layering played a key role. An oversized herringbone hoodie was worn over a bordered dress, while a compact short vest—crafted from corduroy bonded with shearling—was layered over an apple-green pleated dress. In each case, contrasting textures and functions were combined to create depth and dimension. This was not about simply adding pieces together, but about editing and shaping the space between them.

Lightness Meets Romanticism

One of the season’s defining elements was a feather-like texture that moved gently with the body. An oak-yellow midi skirt tied with a sky-blue ribbon created visual space within motion. A lightweight cotton check blouse accented with subtle floral motifs highlighted the softness and fluidity of the fabric, evoking a sense of poetry rooted in everyday life.

An apple-green fleece layered over a candy-pink blouse adorned with a ribbon at the neckline, paired with a knit mini skirt featuring patch pockets, moved back and forth between sporty and romantic. The tension between sweetness and functionality gave the collection a distinctive emotional tone.

Menswear with a Free Spirit

The menswear also stood out for its freedom from convention. An off-white fleece jacket embroidered with hand-stitched floral motifs was styled with a lightweight shirt and soft khaki trousers—casual yet refined.

By retaining elements of formalwear while introducing playful materials and decorative details, the collection proposed a new direction for menswear, one that moves beyond traditional boundaries.

60 Years of MEXICO 66™

This season also marks the 60th anniversary of the brand’s iconic MEXICO 66™. To celebrate, Onitsuka Tiger introduced the MEXICO 66™ SQUARE, a slimmer and flatter reinterpretation of the original silhouette. With lizard textures, floral prints, and a wide range of color variations, the classic model takes on a fresh expression.

The footwear lineup expanded further with pointed-toe backstrap heels featuring leather folded flaps and belts, as well as heels reinterpreting the Onitsuka Tiger stripes. Traditional mountain boots were elevated into a fashion-forward context, transforming footwear into a space of experimentation beyond the limits of a “sports brand.”

Expressing Individuality Through Bags and Charms

The new-season bags included compact rectangular crossbody styles defined by vertical strap closures. Studded versions moved fluidly between practicality and decoration.

In addition, a wide range of charms designed with dedicated rings for attachment to belts and bags were introduced. Colorful ribbons, mini pouches for earphones, lipstick holders, and eyewear cases transformed everyday essentials into expressive accessories. Once again, ma—the space between function and ornament—served as a guiding design principle.

ReFa HEART BRUSH Adds a Final Touch

The show venue was accented with the ReFa HEART BRUSH in Onitsuka Tiger yellow. Known as an icon model of the Japanese beauty brand ReFa, the special item was gifted to attendees, adding a vibrant finishing touch to the experience.

This season, Onitsuka Tiger centered its collection on the Japanese sensibility of ma, translating the “in-between” spaces of occasion, time, and gender into design. Rather than simply blending elements, the brand carefully preserved the distance between them, creating a new balance. The resulting sense of space was subtle yet undeniably present.

By honoring its roots as a sports brand while expanding its expressive language within fashion, Onitsuka Tiger further defined what makes the brand uniquely its own.
