On February 10, FANG NYC unveiled its Fall/Winter 2026 collection on the eve of New York Fashion Week’s official calendar. Marking the brand’s second runway presentation, the show served as a confident reaffirmation of its gender-expansive identity.

This season draws inspiration from Berlin’s 1990s rave culture—a period defined by post–Cold War liberation, creativity, and a powerful sense of communal freedom. Referencing Anfang/Beginning: Berlin 1994–99, a photographic series by Christian Stemmler, designer Fang Guo looked to images that captured intimate friendships and reconfigured, utilitarian modes of dress. That atmosphere—raw yet deeply human—was subtly woven into the collection’s detailing and material choices.

Particularly striking were the sensual looks grounded in black. A tube top layered with sheer fabric, paired with a mini skirt and long boots, emphasized the body’s contours while maintaining a certain DIY spirit. A studded choker at the neck and grommeted straps swaying at the sides of the skirt subtly evoked the defiant edge of club culture. Rather than replicating the provocation of the ’90s outright, the collection refined it into a minimalist, contemporary proportion.

Classic motifs such as stripes and checks were also reinterpreted through knitwear and body-conscious silhouettes. Teal and purple checkerboard tops gained a modern sharpness through their streamlined forms. A soft beige check knit dress traced the body with delicate transparency, creating a tension between restraint and sensuality.

The brand’s unisex philosophy—central to FANG NYC’s core—was evident in the construction of silhouettes. Reconstructed denim skirts and knee-length bottoms balanced functionality and sculptural design through zippers and paneling. Styled with over-the-knee boots, these looks blurred gender boundaries while proposing a new equilibrium. The coexistence of body-emphasizing ensembles and structured, androgynous styles within the same space created a dynamic contrast—yin and yang, softness and strength.

Leather emerged as an essential material this season. Cropped leather jackets and sheer black dresses accented with studs carried an industrial undertone without sacrificing elegance. Workwear-inspired details and metal hardware functioned not merely as embellishments but as integral elements of the brand’s core design language.

FANG NYC’s Fall/Winter 2026 is not a simple return to the past. While referencing the freedom and communal spirit of the 1990s, the collection reconnects those ideals to the present moment.

In an era often defined by division, the collection explores what form “hope” might take through fashion. That intention ultimately left the strongest impression this season.
