On September 6th, Sulvam, celebrating its 10th anniversary, unveiled its latest collection at Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo through the support of Rakuten Group’s “by R” project, aimed at empowering Japan’s fashion scene.

The runway show, held at the Endo Memorial Hall of Bunka Fashion College, designer Teppei Fujita’s alma mater, drew a large audience that filled the venue. This collection was co-created with the students of Bunka Fashion College, embodying Fujita’s strong desire to provide students with hands-on skills in the industry. Building upon the collection revealed in July, the show showcased even deeper creative collaboration with young creators.

The name “Sulvam” is derived from the Latin word for “improvisation.” Fujita’s designs, while valuing individuality, also aim to offer universal appeal, blending a refined aesthetic. In the 2025 Spring/Summer collection, Sulvam’s signature loose cuts and three-dimensional silhouettes struck a delicate balance between freedom and carefully calculated beauty.

The first half of the show featured Sulvam’s iconic tailored jackets and blazers, paired with oversized shirts and loose-knit sweaters, adding a relaxed feel to otherwise formal items.

Meanwhile, aloha shirts and paisley-patterned setups evoked a resort-like atmosphere, with vibrant prints bringing a playful touch.

Soft yellow and off-white setups contrasted with a vivid red ensemble, which was paired with a black shirt to create a striking impact.

In the second half of the show, gray and navy jackets, along with workwear-inspired setups, added even more variety to the collection. Signature Sulvam details such as raw hems, irregularly cut loose knits, external pockets, and dangling threads embodied the brand’s distinctive “unfinished aesthetic.”

The success of this runway show was significantly bolstered by the strong support of Rakuten Group’s “by R” project. “By R” is a project aimed at empowering Japan’s fashion scene by actively supporting rising brands.

Rakuten not only supported the brand’s runway show in Tokyo but will also assist with a reception party celebrating the opening of its Paris flagship store during Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2025, held from September 23 to October 1, 2024.

Moreover, Rakuten’s platform, “Rakuten Fashion,” features a special section for exclusive “by R” products. In addition to product sales, the platform also showcases interviews where Fujita shares his thoughts on the runway show.

With this comprehensive support, Sulvam, celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, is set to take another leap forward into a new growth stage.
