On March 15th, YOKE presented its debut womenswear collection for Fall/Winter 2026 at Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo. The show was held at Hikarie in Shibuya, Tokyo.

Having received the Fashion Prize of Tokyo 2026 last year and presented its inaugural menswear collection in Paris this past January, the launch of YOKE’s womenswear line marks the beginning of a new chapter for the brand.

The collection is built around the theme “Beyond Form,” drawing inspiration from Jean Arp, the seminal sculptor and painter of the Surrealist movement. Guided by Arp’s philosophy that “nature contains no straight lines,” designer Norio Terada translated the organic curves and silhouettes born from serendipity into contemporary, wearable clothing. Rather than defaulting to the broad label of “unisex,” Terada approached womenswear from the ground up, focusing on silhouettes that truly resonate with the female form. The result is a collection where menswear and womenswear connect in a seamless gradation — a single, unified world that speaks to the expanding vision of the brand.

The color palette draws quietly from the natural world: stone grey, earthy brown, sand beige, leaf green, and sky blue. Against this serene backdrop, a single all-red look cut through the runway with an intensity that raised the temperature of the entire collection.

Throughout, the silhouettes balance a natural, uncontrived ease with an underlying sense of construction — as though control has been intentionally relinquished. A black leather bomber paired with chocolate brown slacks, a sand-colored trench coat loosely cinched at the waist, and an oversized cobalt blue knit with a loop-yarn scarf cascading from the shoulder. Each look embodies the beauty of something that resists being perfectly arranged.

Equally striking was the way scarves and gloves functioned not as accessories, but as the very core of each look. In one, a chunky knit scarf cinched the waist in place of a belt; in another, an oversized scarf trailed nearly to the floor, swaying with each step. This idea — that the act of draping itself is the design — resonates deeply with Arp’s own embrace of chance and organic form.

Following the Fashion Prize of Tokyo 2026 and its Paris menswear debut, YOKE takes its next step forward with the launch of womenswear in Tokyo. Quietly exploring the relationship between sculpture, nature, and the body, this collection feels at once minimal and poetic — a renewed invitation to consider what clothing, as a sculptural form, can truly be.
