New York-born fashion brand Kate Spade New York recently opened its first jewelry-only concept store in London.
The store is located in Paddington Square Shopping Centre, near the refurbished train station, and has a floor space of 290 square feet. With marble checkerboard floors and the brand’s signature Kelly green walls, the store resembles a luxurious Manhattan apartment.
Kate Spade New York was established in 1993 by Kate Spade and Andy Spade with the launch of six signature bags. Its feminine and playful designs, reminiscent of the Upper East Side ladylike style of Gossip Girl’s Blair Waldorf, have attracted a large following of women. Today, the brand has grown beyond bags to a lifestyle brand that includes clothing, shoes, jewelry, perfume, home décor, and hospitality.
According to the brand, the opening of the new jewelry specialty store is also meant as a pilot to determine if additional stores will be opened in other regions in the future. The brand has the strongest sales in the jewelry category in North America, as well as in Europe and Japan.
In addition, the new fine jewelry category, which has been added to the fashion jewelry category, is attracting new customers. A visit to the brand’s flagship store in New York City reveals a colorful and playful jewelry collection, which is purchased as gifts by many tourists and fans of the brand. Fashion jewelry, in particular, is accessible to the price-conscious consumer, with many items priced at under $100.
Tapestry, Inc. subsidiary Kate Spade New York anticipates further success on the global fashion scene with the opening of this new store.
