On July 22, The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. announced that Peter Hawkings, the Creative Director of Tom Ford, will be stepping down.

Founded by Tom Ford in 2005, the brand is a global design house offering exceptional luxury women’s and men’s fashion, accessories, eyewear, and beauty. It is now present in over 100 markets worldwide.

The Estée Lauder Companies acquired the Tom Ford brand and all its intellectual property for $2.8 billion in April 2023. Around the same time, Tom Ford’s resignation as founder and Creative Director was announced, causing a stir in the industry.

A few days later, Hawkings, who had been involved with the brand since its inception, was appointed the new Creative Director, succeeding Ford. Against this backdrop, Hawkings’ departure from the position comes less than a year and a half after his appointment.

Guillaume Jesel, President and CEO, TOM FORD and Luxury Business Development, The Estée Lauder Companies, stated, “I would like to express my gratitude to Peter for his exceptional contributions to TOM FORD from the very beginning.”

Lelio Gavazza, CEO of TOM FORD FASHION, commented, “I want to thank Peter for his collaboration since TOM FORD FASHION became part of the Ermenegildo Zegna Group. Along with his team, Peter has contributed to this important initial phase of development. I wish him all the best in his next chapter.”

As a result of this departure, the planned Spring/Summer 2025 collection will be presented in the Milan showroom in September 2024.

The successor to Hawkings has not yet been announced.
