On July 25th, Loewe celebrated the grand opening of its first Casa Loewe in Cheongdam-dong, Seoul.
This new Casa Loewe Seoul is situated in the bustling and sophisticated Gangnam Apgujeong district of Seoul, adjacent to luxury stores like Loro Piana, Hublot, and Louis Vuitton. The three-story store spans a spacious 433 square meters, bathed in natural sunlight. It offers a wide array of products, including the full collections of women’s and men’s wear, accessories, bags, eyewear, shoes, leather goods, scarves, shawls, home scents, and exclusive items available only at Casa Loewe Seoul.
The store’s unique interior features a vibrant green ceramic façade and striking sculptures, seamlessly blending bold colors and textures with the urban landscape. Designed by Loewe’s creative director, Jonathan Anderson, the retail concept aims to present an eclectic fusion of fashion, art, and design.
Inside, the same tiles in shades of blue, brown, and green are repeatedly used, enhancing the combination of concrete, oak, brass, and marble. The extensive use of glass allows natural light to flow throughout, creating a seamless connection between the exterior and the interior.
The carefully selected furnishings include custom-felted Berlin club chairs, Utrecht chairs, Steltman chairs designed by Gerrit Thomas Rietveld, and Conoid cushion chairs by George Nakashima. Loewe’s puffer bench showcases sophisticated leather craftsmanship, while black terrazzo tables, burnt wood podiums, and antique ceramics add diverse textures. Natural wool rugs from Spain cover the floors, and abstract landscape tapestries by British textile artist John Allen add a splash of color.
Throughout the store, Loewe has integrated art and craft pieces from around the world into the design. A standout piece is the large bamboo sculpture “Source of Creation” (2024) by Japanese artist Tanabe Chikuunsai IV, symbolizing the dynamic interplay between fashion and art.
Additionally, the store features works by winners of the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize, including the ceramic piece “Metanoia” (2019) by Eriko Inazaki and the horsehair vessel “A Time for Sincerity” (2021) by Dahye Jeong. Other notable works include “Cocoon Top Series – 1” (2019) by Youngsoon Lee, crafted from a Korean paper of Hanji.
Through Casa Loewe Seoul, the brand aims to provide Korean customers with a new and immersive experience, deepening their appreciation of Loewe’s aesthetic and philosophy. This space serves not just as a shopping destination but as an art gallery that stimulates the senses, allowing visitors to enjoy art from around the world while engaging with Loewe’s unique vision.
