This fall, Barneys New York is making a comeback as a limited-time pop-up shop in New York City.
This special event has been orchestrated by Carisa Janes, the founder and president of the beauty brand Hourglass, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of her brand. Driven by nostalgia and admiration for Barneys New York, Janes has brought the iconic store back to life. The pop-up will take place from September 5th to October 11th, 2024, at 14 Prince Street in the SoHo district of New York.
The 1,500-square-foot space has been designed by Simon Doonan, Barneys’ former creative design director. The store will feature a curated selection of fashion, accessories, and beauty items, carefully chosen by former fashion director Julie Gilhart. The lineup will include designer brands familiar from New York Fashion Week, such as Area, Christopher John Rogers, Luar, Peter Do, Who Decides War, and Willy Chavarria.
Ahead of the pop-up’s opening, the Instagram accounts of Hourglass and Barneys New York have been filled with content featuring fashion model Alek Wek, who serves as the face of the Barneys revival.

Additionally, during the event, exclusive Hourglass x Barneys New York products will be available for purchase, including an eyeshadow palette, two lipsticks, and Carisa Janes’ first fragrance.
Barneys New York, once an iconic department store in the world of high fashion, closed its doors on February 23, 2020, leaving many saddened by its departure. The return of Barneys through this limited-time collaboration with Hourglass has been met with great excitement from those who have long cherished the brand.
