On August 30th, the Italian fashion company Benetton Group announced the resignation of Andrea Incontri, who has served as Creative Director for the past two years, as part of its ongoing organizational restructuring. This decision reflects the recent changes within the Italian company.
According to the company’s press release, Incontri’s departure was mutually agreed upon as part of the restructuring aimed at positioning the company for a new phase. This reorganization is being carried out to establish a new management team under the leadership of newly appointed CEO Claudio Sforza.
Moving forward, the internal team will handle the responsibilities of creativity and design.
Incontri joined Benetton in July 2022 from Tod’s, where he served as Men’s Creative Director. His first collection for Benetton debuted during Milan Fashion Week for Spring 2023 and successfully delivered a young and vibrant collection that emphasized the brand’s commitment to inclusivity, diversity, and sustainability. Under his guidance, Benetton was positioned as a brand offering timeless designs and essential everyday wardrobe pieces.
However, the company’s sales have stagnated since the early 2000s, and its financial situation has worsened in recent years. In 2023, the group’s revenue amounted to €1.1 billion, with a net loss of €230 million, nearly three times the previous year. The loss before interest and taxes stood at €113 million.
The brand skipped the Milan Fashion Week in February this year and is not scheduled to participate in the Milan Fashion Week for Spring/Summer 2025 in September.
