the 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards

On September 12, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) announced the nominees for the 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards in the categories of Womenswear, Menswear, Accessories, and Emerging Designers. The prestigious “2024 CFDA Fashion Awards,” which celebrates the highest achievements in the fashion industry, will be held with the support of Amazon Fashion.

The nominees for “Womenswear Designer of the Year” are Rachel Scott for Diotima, Marc Jacobs, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez for Proenza Schouler, Thom Browne, and Tory Burch.

Meanwhile, the nominees for “Menswear Designer of the Year” include Mike Amiri for Amiri, Emily Adams Bode Aujla for Bode, Thom Browne, Todd Snyder, and Willy Chavarria. Each of these designers has brought innovation to men’s fashion with their distinctive styles.

For “Accessory Designer of the Year,” the nominees are Ana Khouri, Stuart Vevers for Coach, Catherine Holstein for Khaite, Raul Lopez for Luar, and Tory Burch.

In addition, the “American Emerging Designer of the Year” nominees, who are recognized for their fresh and creative perspectives, include Tanner Richie and Fletcher Kasell for Tanner Fletcher, Jackson Wiederhoeft for Wiederhoeft, Connor McKnight, Presley Oldham, and Henry Zankov for Zankov. Google’s “Shop with Google” supports this category, providing emerging designers with grants, Pixel products, and mentorship programs to help shape the future of the industry.

Moreover, this year’s CFDA Awards will see the renaming of the Board of Directors’ Tribute to the “Isabel Toledo Board of Directors’ Tribute” in honor of the late Isabel Toledo. Her legacy will be celebrated posthumously, and her husband, designer Ruben Toledo, will accept the award on her behalf. This award, previously given to individuals such as Virgil Abloh and Michelle Obama, will now focus solely on honoring designers.

The “International Designer of the Year” award will go to Daniel Roseberry for Schiaparelli. Additionally, the “Positive Change Award” will be presented to Michael Kors for his “Watch Hunger Stop” campaign, which works to combat hunger, and Stephen Burrows will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

CFDA CEO Steven Kolb remarked, “This year’s nominees and honorees represent the gamut of American fashion creativity and excellence,” emphasizing that this event serves as a key fundraising opportunity to support the next generation of designers.

The awards ceremony and gala dinner will take place on October 28, 2024, at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. It promises to be an evening where the brightest talents in the fashion world gather to celebrate their achievements and envision the future of the industry.
