MM6 Maison Margiela has been announced as the guest designer for Pitti Uomo, scheduled to take place in Florence, Italy, in January 2025. Pitti Uomo, held twice a year, is one of the world’s leading menswear fashion events.
MM6 Maison Margiela, known for its avant-garde creativity, will showcase a menswear collection designed exclusively for this event. While the venue remains undisclosed, the show will take place somewhere in Florence. Additionally, the brand will present its collection at Milan Fashion Week in February.
Since its inception in 1997, MM6 Maison Margiela has consistently redefined wardrobes with unexpected perspectives. While honoring the Maison’s archives, the brand continues to break conventional tailoring rules. Using unique fabric treatments and cutting-edge techniques, MM6 offers a diverse range of items, from gender-neutral prêt-à-porter to shoes, accessories, and leather goods. The distinctive horizontal white stitching on the back of garments has become an iconic detail, symbolizing the brand’s strong identity.
Francesca Tacconi, Special Events Coordinator at Pitti Immagine, commented, “A deliberate sense of provocation is almost familiar, as it is part of the essence of each MM6 item,” She added, “MM6 explores different postures and behaviours in the here and now. They become symbols of inner nonconformity, and independent expressions of a wardrobe celebrating the beauty and surprise of imperfection. To us, it seems like a return to our roots, rendered contemporary by the dialogue between sartorial de-construction and individuality of character. Here in Florence, we are excited to unveil a men’s collection conceived specifically for the Pitti Uomo show.”
MM6 Maison Margiela also commented in the statement: “We are honored and excited to be invited as Pitti Uomo’s guest designer this coming January, as part of the world’s most important menswear fashion fair. We intend to bring the style and spirit of MM6, creating a menswear project specifically for Florence. After nearly 20 years, we are thrilled to return with Maison Margiela to the Pitti stage and bring to the fore a contemporary menswear wardrobe that will resonate with the attitude, concepts, and processes of MM6.”
