On December 18, Balenciaga opened its first standalone store in Austin, Texas. Located within the mixed-use metropolitan center of The Domain, the store features an extensive selection of the brand’s latest collections, including men’s and women’s ready-to-wear, shoes, bags, and accessories.
The Domain is already home to renowned luxury brands such as Dior, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Tiffany & Co., but the addition of Balenciaga further amplifies its prestige and presence in the luxury retail market.
The store incorporates Balenciaga’s signature Raw Architecture concept, which has been featured in its recent locations. This design approach emphasizes the structural beauty of the building while harmonizing with the urban landscape and local culture. The façade, composed of glass, porcelain, and quartz, reflects the southwestern scenery characteristic of Austin. Inside, the store showcases a gray palette inspired by the sand and stone unique to the region, creating a modern yet inviting atmosphere.
The interior features brushed slab and poured concrete flooring embedded with carpeting, while the walls are adorned with patinated concrete panels, hot-rolled steel bearing flame marks, and smoked glass. The open ceiling design, which reveals grids, exposed lighting systems, and technical fixtures, embodies industrial aesthetics. Aged steel tables and suspended pipe racks enhance the warehouse-inspired atmosphere.
Adding a contrasting warmth to the cool-toned space are high-definition screens, supple leather seating, and a street-facing lightbox, creating an immersive and captivating environment for visitors.
This Austin store follows Balenciaga’s recent expansion efforts. The brand recently opened its largest store in China, a 10,000-square-foot space in Shanghai’s HKRI Taikoo Hui shopping mall, marking its 54th location in the country. In September, Balenciaga also unveiled a new U.S. flagship store in SoHo, New York City.
