The Japan Fashion Week Organization (JFWO) has announced a support program for international press and buyers in preparation for “Rakuten Fashion Week TOKYO 2025 A/W,” scheduled to take place from March 17 to March 22, 2025. This program aims to showcase the talents of Tokyo-based designers and brands on a global stage, strengthening connections with the international fashion market. It represents a new initiative starting this season.
JFWO has actively worked to promote Tokyo’s fashion scene on a global scale. In 2024, the organization established a partnership with the Paris exhibition “TRANOÏ” and successfully hosted “TRANOÏ TOKYO S/S 25” for the first time in Tokyo.
Additionally, in December of the same year, JFWO officially announced a partnership with Italy’s leading international fashion trade show, “PITTI IMMAGINE.” This collaboration aims to foster further growth in the fashion industries of both countries while enhancing support for Japan’s manufacturers, retailers, and designers.
Building on these efforts, the 2025 A/W season will introduce a new support system for press and buyers visiting from overseas, accelerating initiatives to promote Tokyo’s fashion to the world.
The details of the eligibility criteria and application requirements for the support program for international press and buyers are as follows:
Program Overview
This program provides support to international press and buyers who meet the following criteria:
Application Period
Friday, January 10th, 2025 – Thursday, January 23rd, 2025, 6:00 PM (Japan Time)
Eligibility Requirements
- Press: Media editors and freelance journalists, as well as editors, writers, or photographers affiliated with a media outlet.
- Buyers: Shop buyers and merchandisers, including those from online stores.
Activity Requirements
- Press: Publish at least three articles covering highlights from Rakuten Fashion Week TOKYO 2025 A/W (featuring multiple brands) and promote them via relevant social media platforms.
- Buyers: Conduct approximately five business meetings with participating brands (coordination support provided by JFWO if necessary).
Travel Support / Number of Invitees
Partial support for expenses related to visiting Japan (the amount of support to be negotiated depending on the conditions of the activities and travel expenses). Flight and hotel accommodations must be arranged by the applicant.
Up to five individuals will be selected for the 2025 A/W season (if no applicants meet the conditions, no participants will be selected).
Desired Length of Stay
Sunday, March 16th, 2025 – Saturday, March 22nd, 2025 (negotiable).
