Quince Secures $120 Million in Series C Funding – How the M2C Model is Revolutionizing Pricing?

Quince

On January 28, the U.S.-based M2C brand Quince announced that it had raised $120 million in Series C funding.

This round was co-led by Notable Capital and Wellington Management, with participation from DST Global, Basis Set Ventures, and 8VC. With this funding, Quince aims to expand its growth and mission further.

Disrupting the Traditional Supply Chain – What is Quince’s M2C Model?

Quince is a platform driven by the philosophy that “high-quality products do not have to be expensive.” Its mission is to provide products of equal or even superior quality to luxury brands at an affordable price for everyone.

To achieve this, Quince has adopted the “Manufacturer-to-Consumer (M2C)” model, where products are delivered directly from factories to consumers. M2C is a business model in which manufacturers sell their products directly to consumers via online platforms.

In traditional brands, the supply chain consists of multiple intermediaries—factories → sourcing agents → tariffs → warehouses → brands → retail stores → consumers—leading to inflated costs. In contrast, the M2C model eliminates intermediary costs, allowing high-quality products to be offered at significantly lower prices.

Differences Between D2C and M2C

So, how do the traditional D2C (Direct-to-Consumer) model and the emerging M2C model differ? Both eliminate intermediaries and sell directly to consumers, but they have distinct characteristics.

D2C refers to a model where a brand sells its own products directly to consumers. Typically, brands contract with manufacturers, establish their product lines and then sell directly through their online stores or brand-operated retail stores. In this model, the brand controls marketing, distribution, and sales, allowing it to provide a unique customer experience and added value.

On the other hand, M2C is a model where manufacturers sell directly to consumers. Unlike D2C, M2C does not involve a brand as an intermediary; instead, the manufacturer itself handles the sales process. By selling directly through online stores, M2C further reduces distribution costs, enabling products to be offered at even lower prices.

For example, the cost breakdown of a Quince product is as follows:

  • Material cost: $26.63
  • Manufacturing cost: $6.04
  • Packaging: $0.65
  • Shipping & handling: $8.93
  • Credit card fees: $1.39
  • Total cost: $43.64

This product is sold for $50 at Quince, whereas traditional brands would typically price it at $128. When compared, the price difference is evident.

Transparency and Sustainability – Commitment to “Honest Manufacturing”

In addition to price transparency, Quince is dedicated to sustainable production and improving labor conditions. As part of this effort, the company partners only with factories that guarantee fair wages and ethical working environments, ensuring a responsible production system.

Furthermore, Quince is committed to full transparency, disclosing everything from raw material sourcing and manufacturing processes to cost structures, ensuring fair pricing. Additionally, the brand pursues sustainable management, striving to reduce environmental impact while delivering the highest value to consumers.

By staying true to honest manufacturing, Quince is redefining luxury that is accessible to all—this is the future the company envisions.

Quince Pioneering a New Era of Luxury

With the $120 million raised in its Series C funding round, Quince is set to accelerate its brand expansion and entry into new markets.

Challenging the long-held belief that “high-quality products must be expensive,” Quince is on a mission to deliver true value to consumers. Rooted in the belief that luxury should not be reserved for a select few, the brand is redefining what luxury means, leading the way in creating genuinely valuable products.

With its unique balance of high quality and fair pricing, Quince’s innovative vision is expected to gain even greater support from consumers in the future.
