Kim Jones Steps Down as Artistic Director of Dior Homme

Kim Jones

On January 31, it was announced that Kim Jones would be stepping down as the artistic director of Dior Homme. Since his appointment in 2018, he has led the men’s collection, establishing a unique style that fuses classic and modern elements. However, after nearly seven years, he has decided to leave the Maison.

A New Era for Dior Homme in Seven Years

Jones’ final show at Dior Homme was the Fall 2025 Menswear Collection, recently presented at Paris Fashion Week. Following the show, he was awarded the Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur, France’s highest distinction, in recognition of his achievements.

Throughout his tenure, Jones cultivated a distinctive vision for menswear that honored the Maison’s heritage while incorporating fresh perspectives. His collaborations with Kaws, Daniel Arsham, Shawn Stussy, Stone Island, and Eli Russell Linnetz brought together street culture and luxury fashion, creating a groundbreaking approach.

Furthermore, his presentation of the Pre-Fall collection in front of the pyramids of Giza in Egypt, as well as the use of grand set designs featuring giant robots and bridge replicas, redefined fashion show production on a monumental scale. Under his direction, Dior Homme evolved beyond a luxury brand into a cultural powerhouse.

Career Trajectory: From Louis Vuitton and Fendi to Dior

Before joining Dior Homme, Jones served as the artistic director of Louis Vuitton Men’s from 2011 to 2018, where he gained acclaim for collections that seamlessly blended functionality and luxury. In 2020, he was appointed as the artistic director of women’s ready-to-wear at Fendi, succeeding the late Karl Lagerfeld, and introduced the brand’s first-ever couture collection, embracing new challenges. However, in October 2024, he unexpectedly announced his departure from Fendi. At that time, he had declared his commitment to Dior, but now, he has chosen to part ways with the maison as well.

In response to his departure, Dior stated in an official announcement: “He has accelerated the development of men’s collections internationally while creating an inspiring wardrobe that is both classic and contemporary.”

Additionally, Delphine Arnault, chairman and CEO of Christian Dior Couture, expressed her gratitude: “I am extremely grateful for the remarkable work done by Kim Jones, his studio, and the ateliers. With all his talent and creativity, he has constantly reinterpreted the house’s heritage with genuine freedom of tone and surprising, highly desirable artistic collaborations.”

Jones himself reflected on his time at Dior, stating: “It was a true honour to have been able to create my collections within the House of Dior, a symbol of absolute excellence. I express my deep gratitude to my studio and the ateliers who have accompanied me on this wonderful journey. They have brought my creations to life.”

He further added: “I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the artists and friends I have met through my collaborations. Lastly, I feel sincere gratitude towards Bernard and Delphine Arnault, who have given me their full support.”

What’s Next for Jones?

Dior has yet to announce Jones’ successor as artistic director of Dior Homme. However, speculation is growing that Jonathan Anderson, creative director of Loewe, may take over the role.

As Dior Homme enters a new era, the fashion world is closely watching where Kim Jones will go next.
