California-based streetwear brand Stüssy is set to reopen its flagship store in New York. The new store, Stüssy New York Chapter, will celebrate its grand opening on February 14 at 11:00 AM EST.

Stüssy’s Legacy in New York and a New Beginning

Founded in 1980 out of Southern California’s surf culture, Stüssy expanded into New York in the early 1990s. As the streetwear movement solidified, the brand’s New York store became a cultural hub, continuously making waves with its iconic designs and exclusive collaborations.

However, in recent years, as the quiet luxury trend gained momentum, the dominance of street fashion started to settle. Amidst this shift, Stüssy faced a pivotal moment of transformation. At the end of 2023, the brand closed its long-standing flagship store at 176 Spring Street in SoHo, temporarily losing its physical presence in the city.

Still, the brand remained steadfast in its evolution. In October of last year, Stüssy announced plans for a new flagship store, and now, with the opening of Stüssy New York Chapter in the Nolita district, the brand is reaffirming its presence in the streetwear scene.

A New Flagship Store in Nolita

Located at 50 Prince Street, New York, NY 10012, the new store is situated in Nolita, an area renowned as a hub for streetwear trends. The space is expected to further immerse visitors in Stüssy’s distinctive world, reflecting the brand’s evolving identity.

The flagship store’s interior design was created by Willo Perron of Perron–Roettinger, a design studio known for working with leading brands and artists. Their past projects include designing Skims’ retail spaces and Rihanna’s 2023 Super Bowl halftime show. How they have envisioned and executed Stüssy’s new home remains a point of great interest.
