Jeff Garner’s Legacy in Sustainable Fashion
Born and raised in Franklin, Tennessee, Garner is a designer dedicated to harmonizing fashion with nature. Over the years, he has styled numerous celebrities, including Suzy Amis Cameron, Rihanna, Cara Delevingne, Gisele Bündchen, and Livia Firth. His influence also extends to the music industry, having designed outfits for Kings of Leon, Sheryl Crow, Taylor Swift, Def Leppard, and Esperanza Spalding.
Garner’s achievements have been widely recognized. His ostrich feather gown and quilted frock coat have been permanently exhibited at the Smithsonian Museum in Washington D.C.. He was named “Eco Designer of the Year” by GQ magazine, won “Emerging Designer of the Year” at Paris Fashion Week, and was selected to create the tribute collection for Princess Grace of Monaco in 2012.
In 2019, he won an Emmy Award for his sustainable fashion documentary ‘Remastered’ on Amazon Prime. Additionally, he was appointed as a Sustainability Ambassador for Global Green, reinforcing his leadership in the industry.
Since launching his brand in 2002, Garner has remained committed to chemical-free fashion, using hemp and plant-based dyes grown on his farm in Tennessee. His mother’s passing from breast cancer motivated him to further investigate the health risks of chemical-laden fabrics, leading to the creation of ‘Let Them Be Naked.’
The screening of ‘Let Them Be Naked’ on the final day of NYFW is a testament to the growing emphasis on sustainability in fashion. As the industry faces increasing pressure to reduce its environmental impact and improve consumer awareness, this documentary’s message is expected to influence the future direction of fashion.
For those involved in the fashion industry, ‘Let Them Be Naked’ is a must-watch documentary that sheds light on the future of sustainable fashion.
