French luxury department store Printemps is set to make its highly anticipated U.S. debut in March 2025, opening its first American location in One Wall Street, New York. Housed within a historic landmark, this new store will be more than just a shopping destination—it will be a new experiential retail landmark, where the elegance of Paris meets the dynamic energy of New York.
Currently, Printemps Groupe operates 20 department stores across France and has expanded into the lifestyle sector, managing nine Citadium stores. In addition, the company has strengthened its digital presence by acquiring the fashion and beauty e-commerce site “Place des Tendances” in 2013 and Europe’s leading designer furniture and interior design platform, “Made in Design,” in 2019.
With this latest expansion, Printemps is bringing its signature Parisian luxury experience to the heart of New York, marking a new chapter in the brand’s global evolution.
New York as a Strategic Market
Printemps Groupe CEO Jean-Marc Bellaiche shared his thoughts on the brand’s U.S. expansion in a statement: “The US is essential in our international development strategy and opening in New York offers high visibility and growth potential. We think we can bring something unique, both to its engaged local consumer base and the strong tourist flows the city welcomes. It is also a strategic ecommerce market for luxury, fashion, home, and beauty.”
Laura Lendrum, an industry veteran who has previously served as North American President for Saint Laurent, Gucci, and Ralph Lauren, will lead the U.S. expansion. Drawing on her extensive experience in the luxury sector, she will spearhead Printemps’ U.S. strategy as CEO of Printemps America, Inc.
A Historic Location Merging Past and Future
The new Printemps store will be housed in One Wall Street, formerly the Irving Trust Tower, one of New York’s most iconic historic buildings. A key feature of the store will be the “Red Room,” one of the city’s rare designated interior landmarks, celebrated for its timeless beauty.
The store’s interior will be designed by internationally acclaimed Parisian interior designer Laura Gonzalez, whose vision will seamlessly blend Parisian sophistication with New York’s modern vibrancy, offering an unparalleled luxury experience.
In recent years, New York’s Financial District has undergone significant redevelopment, with an increase in both residential and commercial spaces. Printemps’ arrival is expected to further elevate the district, solidifying its status as a premier luxury retail destination.
