On February 26, it was announced that Lucie Meier and Luke Meier, the creative directors of Jil Sander, would be stepping down from the brand.

This news came immediately after the Jil Sander Fall/Winter 2025 show at Milan Fashion Week. In an official statement, the brand stated, that Jil Sander and Lucie & Luke Meier have mutually decided that this collection would be the last of their collaboration.

Eight Years of Evolution—Reinterpreting and Refining Minimalism

The Meiers took over the creative direction of Jil Sander in 2017, succeeding Rodolfo Paglialunga. They debuted their first collection for the brand in Spring/Summer 2018. Over the past eight years, they have not only upheld the brand’s identity but also infused it with their refined interpretation of minimalism.

Renzo Rosso, chairman of OTB Group, Jil Sander’s parent company, expressed his appreciation in the statement, saying, “I wish to thank Lucie and Luke for their vision, passion for excellence, and dedication to the brand.”

The Meiers also reflected on their journey, stating, “Luke and I are touched to have presented our last collection for Jil Sander after 8 years with the house. We want to thank everyone that has been involved and contributed their skill, creativity, and energy. We are so proud of all we have achieved together, and even more proud of the wonderful friendships we have made.”

Luke Meier previously led the design team at Supreme for eight years, while Lucie Meier served as interim designer at Dior before Maria Grazia Chiuri’s appointment. She also gained experience at Louis Vuitton and Balenciaga. As they step away from Jil Sander, their next move remains a subject of keen industry interest.

Their final Fall/Winter 2025 collection for Jil Sander masterfully balanced the brand’s signature minimalism with bold, decorative elements such as fur coats, fringes, and feather details. This last collection stands as a testament to their creative evolution and serves as a bridge to the brand’s next chapter.

For eight years, the Meiers quietly but powerfully shaped Jil Sander’s direction. Their departure marks a turning point for the brand and a transition into a new era.

On the other hand, as of now, there has been no official announcement regarding Jil Sander’s next creative director, but Daniel Lee of Burberry is rumored to be a leading candidate for the role.
