Hourglass Opens New Global Flagship Store in New York City

On March 27, U.S.-based luxury cosmetics brand Hourglass opened its long-awaited global flagship store in the NoLita neighborhood of New York City.

Located at 14 Prince Street in SoHo, this new global flagship invites clients into the world of Hourglass—an apartment-inspired space where innovation, design, and artistry converge to create a refined and immersive beauty experience. The store’s design was led by Carisa Janes, the brand’s founder and president, in collaboration with TMR Design and Ryan Crozier of Crozier Studios. The warm-toned interior, accented with marble textures and touches of gold, reflects the brand’s signature minimalist and elegant aesthetic.

Natural light streaming through the large wrap-around windows brings out the true nuances of skin tones and color. Along the windows are artist stations where customers can try on products in natural lighting. At the heart of the space stands a sculptural marble beauty bar made of natural stone and custom metals, where Hourglass’s signature items are beautifully displayed.

The store also features a cozy seating area where customers can casually test products, as well as a private lounge offering coffee and champagne for a more relaxed and luxurious experience. A gifting bar with custom wrapping services, along with click-and-collect and return options, caters to the needs of today’s consumers.

This flagship store also draws on the brand’s past experiences. After closing two physical locations before the pandemic, Hourglass partnered with Barneys New York in September 2024 to launch a limited-time collaborative pop-up. The pop-up featured exclusive items, including eyeshadow palettes, lipsticks, and fragrances, created in collaboration with Barneys, and gained significant attention.

These learnings are deeply reflected in the concept of this new flagship, which emphasizes connection and community through space. Starting in April 2025, Hourglass will launch its “Artist in Residence” series, inviting renowned makeup artists to host events. The first guest will be celebrity makeup artist Emily Cheng.

Additional programming will include masterclasses, panel discussions, art installations, trunk shows, and exclusive product launches, offering visitors the chance to fully experience the world of Hourglass.

More than just a place to shop, the new flagship store is designed to be a space to feel, gather, and connect. Hourglass’s latest retail concept may well serve as a new model for post-pandemic retail experiences.
