Amid intensifying competition with LVMH-owned brands, L’Oréal Group is making another strategic move to reinforce its beauty portfolio.
On June 9, L’Oréal Group announced it has signed an agreement to acquire a majority stake in the British premium skincare brand Medik8. With this acquisition, Medik8 is expected to join the Group’s Luxe Division officially.
Medik8: A Hybrid of Science and Beauty
Founded by scientist Elliot Isaacs, Medik8 is known for its high-performance retinol serum “Crystal Retinal” and its clearly defined “CSA Philosophy” (Vitamin C + Sunscreen by day, Vitamin A by night). Upholding the motto “Results Without Compromise,” the brand began with a professional skincare focus and has since expanded into a diversified omnichannel model, selling both online and through leading European retailers. Its footprint is also growing steadily in the U.S. market.
With this acquisition, L’Oréal aims to further strengthen its science-based skincare offerings and enhance its existing luxury portfolio.

Following the closing of the deal, L’Oréal will begin consolidating Medik8’s sales and has secured an option to buy out the remaining minority stake. Inflexion, a European investment firm, will remain a minority shareholder, and the founder and current leadership team will stay actively involved to ensure continuity.
In the current era of clean beauty and sustainable formulations, Medik8 stands out as one of the few premium brands that successfully balance ingredient transparency with high performance. As such, it is poised to play a key role in L’Oréal Group’s innovation-driven global strategy in the years ahead.
