Gabriela Hearst, a leading voice in sustainable luxury, has unveiled her brand’s first-ever denim collection made from 100% recycled cotton. Embodying the designer’s commitment to environmental responsibility and refined aesthetics, the collection officially launches today at the brand’s flagship stores in New York, Los Angeles, and London, as well as at Isetan Shinjuku in Tokyo. Originally presented during the Fall/Winter 2025 Paris Fashion Week, this new collection reflects the deep-rooted philosophy of Uruguayan designer Gabriela Hearst herself. At a time when the fashion industry is being called upon to redefine the meaning of sustainability, Hearst reimagines denim—an everyday wardrobe staple—through the lens of what she calls “responsible luxury.”
The collection uses 100% recycled cotton as its base. Each piece undergoes an environmentally conscious, hand-treated eco-wash dyeing process that significantly reduces electricity consumption compared to conventional industrial denim manufacturing. Furthermore, all water used in production is filtered and recycled through a circular water system to minimize environmental impact at every stage.
The collection features three signature silhouettes: the cropped “Ezra” bootcut, the sharply tailored “Rey” straight-leg, and the elongated “Willa” bootcut. Each style is adorned with a custom brass waist button inlaid with marquetry woodwork, designed to be removable for laundering, merging practicality with craftsmanship.
The color palette consists of six shades inspired by the natural world and traditional pigment techniques: Cobalt Blue, Golden Birch, Antelope Orange, Burnt Sienna, White, and Uruguayan Blue—the latter named as a tribute to Hearst’s homeland. These vivid, painterly tones go beyond the earthy hues typical of fall and winter, adding poetic vibrancy to any wardrobe.
While using a classic material, the collection offers a modern reinterpretation through a sculptural and purposeful design approach. In doing so, it delivers a quiet yet powerful message that questions the future of fashion through Gabriela Hearst’s distinct and unwavering vision.
