The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and Genesis House, a cultural space created by Hyundai Motor Company, have officially launched the third edition of the “AAPI Design + Innovation Grant,” a support program for Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) designers.
This initiative aims to celebrate and uplift AAPI designers who are shaping the future of American fashion through innovation, identity, and purpose. Since its inception in 2022, the program has supported emerging creative talents by offering financial assistance and increased industry visibility.
For the 2025 edition, three finalists will each receive an unrestricted grant of $40,000, exclusive access to CFDA programming, a trip to Seoul, and the opportunity to present their work at Genesis House in New York City. In addition, the designers will benefit from increased exposure through CFDA’s communication channels.
One grand prize winner will be selected from the finalists to receive an additional $60,000 grant to further support the growth of their brand.
Eligible applicants must be early-stage AAPI designers who lead the creative direction of their own brand and can demonstrate a clear vision, strong brand identity, and commitment to responsible design. All submissions will be reviewed by a panel of industry experts and prominent AAPI creative voices, with select finalists invited to pitch their ideas in the fall.
Applications are open through July 14, 2025. For AAPI designers looking to build a meaningful and globally-minded fashion business, this program offers a valuable opportunity to gain resources, visibility, and momentum.
