A large-scale exhibition titled Virgil Abloh: The Codes, jointly organized by Nike and the Virgil Abloh Archive™, will be held at the Grand Palais in Paris during the Fall 2025 edition of Paris Fashion Week. Running from September 30 to October 10, the exhibition will open on what would have been Virgil Abloh’s birthday and marks the first major retrospective in Europe dedicated exclusively to his creative legacy.
Spanning two decades of multidisciplinary work, the exhibition will present over 20,000 archival pieces that trace the trajectory of Abloh’s influential career. Items on display will include prototypes, sketches, unpublished materials, personal collections, and his library, covering a wide range of categories from fashion and footwear to architecture, music, and advertising. Visitors will be able to experience the profound impact Abloh had on contemporary fashion, particularly within the realm of streetwear.
The exhibition is curated by Chloe Sultan and Mahfuz Sultan. Rather than a simple archive showcase, The Codes seeks to explore the very principles, processes, and aesthetics that shaped Abloh’s creative universe—his so-called “codes.”
One of the defining aspects of Abloh’s career was his ability to transcend genre boundaries and challenge conventional frameworks. Reflecting this, the exhibition also highlights his dynamic collaborations with notable figures across the fields of art, music, and sports, including A$AP Rocky, Takashi Murakami, and Serena Williams.
In addition to the exhibition itself, a range of public programs is scheduled throughout the event, including talks, workshops, performances, and screenings, offering attendees the opportunity to experience Abloh’s philosophy from multiple angles.
Virgil Abloh: The Codes invites reflection on the future of fashion while offering a renewed perspective on the cultural legacy left behind by one of the most influential creative figures of our time.
