Italian luxury brand Antonio Marras has opened its first overseas flagship store in New York. For the brand helmed by Sardinian-born designer Antonio Marras, this marks a significant first step toward global expansion.
The new store is located at 121 Wooster Street in SoHo, New York, occupying a historic 19th-century building. The total floor area is approximately 700 square meters, with around 400 square meters dedicated to retail space. The store held a soft opening on July 19, with the official launch event scheduled for September 12 during New York Fashion Week.

Stepping into the newly opened flagship reveals a space intricately woven with Marras’s aesthetic sensibilities, personal memories, and artistic vision.
The nearby Hudson River evokes the sea of his native Sardinia, while the vibrant, ever-awake energy of New York resonates deeply with Marras’s inner world. Much like his hometown of Alghero, New York is a cultural melting pot, making it a natural choice for the designer’s next stage of creative expression.
Architectural Beauty and a Sense of History
The store’s interior design maximizes the original features of the historic building, highlighting tin ceilings, cast-iron columns, exposed brick walls, and concrete floors that quietly speak to the structure’s 19th-century roots.
At the entrance, a three-dimensional installation pays tribute to Maria Lai, a Sardinian artist deeply admired by Marras. The piece, inspired by traditional Sardinian looms, is crafted using ceramic, wood, and rope, symbolizing a poetic intersection between craft and artistry.
Inside, furniture and rugs brought from Sardinia are paired with vintage fixtures sourced locally in New York. These elements—spanning different periods and places—resonate harmoniously within the space, creating a natural sense of belonging, as if they had always been there. Repurposed objects like old radiators and church railings add character and texture throughout.
Toward the back of the store, natural light streams through a skylight, illuminating a garden area reminiscent of a greenhouse. Furnished with a blend of neoclassical and baroque pieces, the space features a grand crystal chandelier and handcrafted ceramic pots housing myrtle plants, invoking the spirit of Sardinian nature within an urban context.
Iconic works of 20th-century Italian design also make an appearance, including a table by Carlo Mollino and a Camaleonda sofa by Mario Bellini, reflecting the brand’s ethos of blending tradition with innovation.
Global Expansion Accelerates Under Oniverse
Since joining the Oniverse Group (formerly Calzedonia Group) in 2022, Antonio Marras has been accelerating its global strategy through strengthened retail development. The decision to launch its first overseas flagship in New York was backed by a solid customer base, with approximately 30% of the brand’s clientele concentrated in the U.S. market.
Sandro Veronesi, Chairman of Oniverse, stated, “Being present in New York allows us to dialogue with a highly sophisticated international audience, while strengthening our identity through an immersive and distinctive physical experience.” His comment underscores the strategic and symbolic significance of the flagship store in the brand’s global journey.
