Giorgio Armani, the iconic fashion house founded in Milan in 1975, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. To mark this significant milestone, designer Giorgio Armani has unveiled a new commemorative project titled Armani/Archivio—a major initiative set to unfold during the Milan Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2026.
Armani/Archivio is an initiative that systematically archives and curates the brand’s collections since its inception, offering a comprehensive view of the evolution of the Giorgio Armani aesthetic. More than just a preservation effort, the project will serve as an interactive digital platform that reconnects the past and future of Armani. The platform is scheduled to officially launch during the Venice International Film Festival, beginning on Saturday, August 30. In addition, a physical space is planned near Milan to complement the digital experience.
As part of the celebration, a special exhibition will open on Wednesday, September 24, at the renowned Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan. This marks the first time the historic museum will host a fashion exhibition. Featuring approximately 150 archival looks, the showcase will offer an in-depth exploration of Giorgio Armani’s refined vision and creative journey spanning five decades.
The culmination of the anniversary events will take place on the final evening of Milan Fashion Week, Sunday, September 28, when Giorgio Armani will present his Spring/Summer 2026 womenswear collection in the courtyard of the Brera Art Gallery. The runway will also feature selected pieces from the Spring/Summer 2026 menswear collection, originally unveiled in June.
Giorgio Armani revolutionized the fashion world with his introduction of the soft-structured, unconstructed jacket—an innovation that redefined elegance and modernity. At 91 years old, the designer continues to shape contemporary style. While he was absent from the June menswear show due to health reasons, Armani reassured fans with a statement released on July 11, confirming his return to the runway in September.
