Is Eva Chen the Next Editor-in-Chief of U.S. Vogue?

With the recent departure of Anna Wintour, the iconic figure of the fashion world, from her role as Editor-in-Chief of U.S. Vogue, speculation has been mounting both inside and outside the industry over who will succeed her. Among the names gaining the most attention is Eva Chen, who currently leads the fashion partnerships division at Meta Platforms, Inc.

Chen, 45, is widely recognized as the Director of Fashion Partnerships at Instagram and is also known for her work as a children’s book author. Her career began in the publishing world, where she built a solid editorial foundation at Teen Vogue and Lucky. Combining editorial expertise in print with a sharp eye for trends, she has continued to stay deeply connected to fashion even after transitioning into the tech sector. Her cross-sector experience—spanning digital media, content, and commerce—has made her a uniquely valuable candidate in today’s evolving media landscape.

Lauren Sherman, a journalist at Puck, describes Chen as “one of the very few people in the world who could realistically replace Wintour.” In addition to her editorial credentials, Chen brings a powerful mix of brand relationships, fundraising capabilities, and influencer-level name recognition—qualities that could make her a transformative leader for Condé Nast as it looks toward the future.

Of course, Chen is not the only contender in the running. Other notable candidates reportedly include W Magazine’s Editor-in-Chief Sara Moonves, Chioma Nnadi, who has served as head of editorial content at British Vogue, and Chloe Malle, a member of the Vogue U.S. editorial team. As the industry awaits an official announcement, all eyes remain on Condé Nast and the next chapter of Vogue.
