The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) has opened applications for its 2025 membership, with submissions accepted through September 19.
Founded in 1962 to elevate the status of American fashion designers and strengthen their global influence, the CFDA has supported numerous renowned and emerging talents through initiatives such as the CFDA Fashion Awards and the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund. Today, the organization counts over 400 members across apparel, accessories, jewelry, and textiles, while actively promoting sustainability and diversity within the industry.
The CFDA’s mission is to enhance the global impact of American fashion by fostering creative excellence, ensuring business longevity, and driving positive industry change. Members are expected to embody these values and conduct business with integrity, originality, and purpose.
Eligibility requirements include:
- U.S. citizenship and/or legally established business headquarters in the U.S.
- A minimum of five years actively designing, producing, and selling original work in apparel, accessories, jewelry, and/or textiles.
- Demonstrated retail and/or direct-to-consumer (DTC) sales.
- Strong editorial coverage and a compelling social media presence.
