On September 4, Giorgio Armani, the Italian designer who transformed the fashion world in the latter half of the 20th century, passed away in Milan. He was 91.
In June of this year, the Armani company announced that he had taken ill and was recuperating at home. As a result, he was absent from the runway shows of both Emporio Armani and Giorgio Armani, which were presented as the Spring/Summer 2026 menswear collections. However, in a message released on July 11, he expressed a strong determination to return at Milan Fashion Week in September.
Renowned worldwide and recognized as a pioneer who bridged celebrities and fashion, Armani was born on July 11, 1934, in Piacenza. Having led the global fashion scene for more than half a century, his passing marks a profound loss to the industry.
