British fashion brand Vivienne Westwood will open a new flagship store in Minami-Aoyama, Tokyo, on September 20, 2025. The location will be the first in Japan to offer the brand’s full lineup of both womenswear and menswear collections. It will also feature the brand’s first-ever Vivienne Westwood CAFÉ, making it a highly anticipated cultural hub.
Fusion of Brand Identity and Japanese Architecture
Situated in the heart of Minami-Aoyama, the spacious two-story store will showcase ready-to-wear, bags, shoes, jewelry, sunglasses, and leather goods. The interior reflects the brand’s new concept, blending concrete and wooden flooring with industrial fixtures and an archive wall display. Japanese architectural elements and craftsmanship are also incorporated, such as red lacquer lattice panels that filter light to create rhythm and transparency, and curved plaster walls adorned with exclusive Aoyama store artwork featuring overlapping orb motifs.
Japan’s First Vivienne Westwood CAFÉ
The café’s interior draws inspiration from the brand’s original World’s End shop, established in London in 1971, featuring a backwards-turning 13-hour clock, distinctive furnishings, and bold wall colors. On the menu are original blend coffee, signature scones, and shortbread from “Lees of Scotland,” alongside classic British flavors. Limited-edition goods such as original mugs, tumblers, and keychains will also be available.
Vivienne Westwood remains one of the world’s few independent global fashion brands, celebrated for over 50 years for its provocative designs and cultural impact. Founder Vivienne Westwood, remembered as both a groundbreaking designer and an activist, is regarded as one of the most influential figures in modern fashion.
Carlo D’Amario, CEO of Vivienne Westwood, commented on the opening: “The new Vivienne Westwood Aoyama flagship is a unique space that enhances our collections while blending our house codes with Japanese traditional architecture. With the launch of our first café in Japan, we hope this becomes a true destination where people gather, share ideas, and spark conversations.”
Special Editions to Mark the Opening
To celebrate the opening, the brand will release a special edition collection featuring revived archive tartan patterns. Items will include the YASMINE and GRANNY bags, wallets, and accessories, as well as the unisex LELIO Jacket and GEORGE Trousers, plus women’s summer kilts. New Fall/Winter 2025 accessories, such as enamel button rings and earrings, will also debut in advance.
The current Vivienne Westwood Aoyama store will close on September 10, 2025, with operations moving to the new flagship location.
