Jaden Smith Appointed as Christian Louboutin’s First Men’s Creative Director

On September 17, luxury footwear brand Christian Louboutin announced the appointment of American rapper and actor Jaden Smith as the Maison’s first Men’s Creative Director. Since the brand’s founding in 1991, it is the first time that someone other than Christian Louboutin himself will take the creative helm, marking a historic turning point for the house.

Smith will oversee four men’s collections annually, spanning shoes, leather goods, and accessories. His responsibilities will extend beyond product design to shaping a “distinctive visual and emotional universe” that encompasses campaigns, events, and immersive experiences.

At 27, Smith’s appointment recalls Christian Louboutin’s own beginnings, as the designer launched his eponymous brand at the age of 28. The two first met in Paris in 2019 at a fashion event.

Speaking about Smith, Louboutin said: “When I first met Jaden, I saw in him a natural fit for the Maison, his world is rich and multidimensional, his style and cultural sensibility are inspiring, and his curiosity and openness are remarkable.”

Upon his appointment, Smith stated, “This is the one of the biggest honors of my life, and I feel a lot of pressure to be able to live up to everything that Christian has done for the house, and also stepping into such a serious role. When he reached out to me, I was just blown away, because of how similar we are and how much we like to do things in a similar manner. I can’t wait to show the world what we’ve been working on.”

Christian Louboutin CEO Alexis Mourot also commented on the men’s business, which currently represents about 24 percent of total sales: “We believe there is still tremendous potential.” Smith’s influence, with his 19.1 million Instagram followers, is expected to accelerate this growth.

Smith’s first “avant-premiere capsule” will launch in January 2026 in Christian Louboutin boutiques worldwide and on the official website, followed by the debut of his first full collection during Paris Men’s Fashion Week that same month.
