Gap is partnering with New York–based designer Sandy Liang on a limited-edition collection of women’s and kids’ apparel, launching on Friday, October 10 at 9 a.m. ET. Rooted in shared nostalgia, the collaboration merges Gap’s timeless American heritage with Liang’s signature aesthetic, showcasing how the brand’s iconic essentials can serve as a canvas for creativity.

The collaboration centers on the theme of “shared nostalgia,” blending GAP’s timeless heritage with Sandy Liang’s signature girlish aesthetic and playful design sensibility. By reinterpreting the brand’s classic essentials through a contemporary lens, the collection redefines the balance between the familiar and the modern.

Mark Breitbard, President and CEO of GAP, commented on the partnership: “Each collaboration has its own handwriting — its own story. Sandy Liang has cultivated both an engaged community and an iconic design perspective, which has allowed her to reimagine our heritage pieces into something entirely new, yet familiar. It’s exactly the kind of creative partnership that keeps Gap at the forefront of culture.”

The creative foundation of the collection is drawn from Liang’s own childhood memories of wearing GAP. To visualize that nostalgia, visual artist Annie Choi created a short animated film titled “Sandy’s Dream Closet.” Set in New York’s Lower East Side near Congee Village, the Cantonese restaurant run by Liang’s father, the film poetically depicts a young Sandy dreaming about the possibilities of fashion—an imaginative vision that encapsulates the world of GAP × Sandy Liang.

Reflecting on the collaboration, Liang shared, “Growing up, Gap was the pinnacle of fashion. It’s incredible that I get to co-create with such an iconic brand that I treasured so much as a child, yet is still so relevant today,” said Sandy Liang. “‘Sandy’s Dream Closet’ illustrates how wearing Gap made me feel growing up as I imagined being an adult one day and who I could be. I wanted to take the pieces that meant something to me as a kid and reimagine them through my lens today — celebrating girlhood in all its forms, while honoring the iconic styles that make Gap so timeless.”

The Gap × Sandy Liang collection’s playful motifs and whimsical details transform everyday staples into modern collectibles. Denim anchors the collection with versatile silhouettes that merge Liang’s aesthetic with Gap classics, including the Pleated Denim Mini Skirt ($88), the Vegan Fur Crop Denim Jacket ($128), and Low Rise ’90s Loose Carpenter Jeans ($108). Gap’s iconic fleece is refreshed with Liang’s reinterpretation of the classic arch logo on the Extra Heavyweight Logo Oversized Hoodie ($118) and the Heavyweight Bow Oversized Hoodie ($108).

The outerwear lineup makes a bold statement with the Reversible Vegan Leather Sherpa Jacket ($268), a Vegan Fur Half-Zip Pullover ($198), and the Bow-Back Trench Coat ($228) finished with Liang’s signature bow detailing — a hallmark of her design DNA. Online-exclusive items for baby and toddler include mini matchbacks inspired by the women’s fleece and outerwear styles, extending the collaboration across generations, with Liang’s son, Rainer, also appearing in the campaign.

The Gap × Sandy Liang collection will be available on gap.com and in select Gap stores, including The Grove, 2 Folsom, Flatiron, Times Square, and Irvine Spectrum Center, as well as Sandy Liang’s flagship store in New York City. The collaboration will also roll out internationally in markets including the Middle East, Czech Republic, Philippines, Mexico, Turkey, Japan, Taiwan, and the UK, and on Zalando.com. Gap cardholders will receive exclusive early access to the collection beginning October 9 at 12 p.m. ET / 9 a.m. PT via the Gap mobile app and on gap.com.
