Fendi, the Rome-based Italian luxury house, officially announced on October 14, 2025, that it has appointed Maria Grazia Chiuri as its new Chief Creative Officer. The appointment follows the transition of Silvia Venturini Fendi, who has long served as a creative force within the brand, into the newly established role of Honorary President.

From Dior to Fendi — A Return to Origins

Born in Rome, Chiuri began her career at Fendi, where she spent a decade designing accessories. She is especially known for co-developing the iconic Baguette bag alongside Silvia Venturini Fendi, a design that would go on to define a generation of luxury handbags.

After her tenure at Fendi, she moved to Valentino, serving as co-creative director with Pierpaolo Piccioli. In 2016, she became the first woman to be named Creative Director of Dior, overseeing the maison’s womenswear and haute couture divisions. At Dior, she was instrumental in redefining the brand through a feminist lens and helped drive its global growth.

Commenting on the appointment, Bernard Arnault, Chairman and CEO of LVMH Group, shared:

“Maria Grazia Chiuri is one of the greatest creative talents in fashion today, and I am delighted that she has chosen to return to Fendi to continue expressing her creativity within the LVMH group. Surrounded by the Fendi teams and in a city that is dear to her, Maria Grazia will contribute to the artistic renewal and future success of the Maison, while perpetuating its unique heritage.”

Ramon Ros, who assumed the role of Chairman and CEO of Fendi in July 2025, also expressed his enthusiasm:

“I’m thrilled to welcome Maria Grazia into the team. The role of a creative director is no longer to simply design beautiful clothes but to curate a culture and hold a mirror to the world we live in. Her talent and vision will be instrumental in fortifying Fendi’s heritage, shaping the future talent in the house and deepening our commitment to Italian craftsmanship.”

Chiuri herself shared the following statement on her return:

“I return to Fendi with honour and joy, having had the privilege of beginning my career under the guidance of the House’s founders, the five sisters.

Fendi has always been a forge of talents and a starting point for many creatives in the industry, thanks to the extraordinary ability of these five women to foster and nurture generations of vision and skill.
I am grateful to Mr. Arnault for entrusting me with the task of helping to write a new chapter in the history of this extraordinary women-founded company.”

Debut Collection: Fendi Fall/Winter 2026–2027

Maria Grazia Chiuri is set to unveil her first collection as Chief Creative Officer of Fendi during Milan Fashion Week in February 2026, presenting the Fall/Winter 2026–2027 collection. She is expected to oversee not only womenswear but also menswear, haute couture, and accessories, signaling a comprehensive creative leadership across the maison.
