On November 3, Kim Kardashian’s brand Skims announced the appointment of Diarrha N’Diaye as its Executive Vice President of Beauty & Fragrance. In her new role, N’Diaye will oversee product development, brand strategy, and innovation for Skims Beauty, which is gearing up for its official launch.
N’Diaye founded her own brand, Ami Colé, in 2021, earning widespread recognition for its inclusive range of products celebrating melanin-rich skin tones. However, in 2024, she announced that the brand would be closing due to rising operating costs. The decision left many in the beauty community deeply saddened.
“I want Skims Beauty to be a place where everyone feels represented, and there is no better person to help us do that than Diarrha,” said Kim Kardashian, co-founder and Chief Creative Officer of Skims. “She has an incomparable talent for blending the emotional and practical sides of beauty. Her instincts and experience in innovation and authenticity will drive our brand forward.”
In an official statement, N’Diaye shared her vision for the brand’s new direction:
“I want to redefine makeup classics while bringing a renewed sense of excitement to beauty rituals. At the same time, I hope to simplify routines and take a skin-focused approach—from strand to toe.”
She added, “My job is to figure out how we create this second-skin experience for the customer and bridge the gap from clothing to makeup, hair, and fragrance.”
Jens Grede, co-founder and CEO of Skims, also commented on the appointment: “Diarrha’s modern and community-forward perspective on beauty aligns perfectly with the ambitions of Skims Beauty. Her entrepreneurial background and ability to identify customers’ untapped needs will be instrumental in shaping our business.”
Earlier this year, Skims acquired Kardashian’s previous beauty venture, SKKN by Kim, from Coty Inc. The acquisition included both skincare and makeup divisions and unified Skims’ three major pillars—fashion, fragrance, and beauty—under one cohesive brand strategy.
In July, Skims introduced its first beauty-adjacent product, the Seamless Sculpt Face Wrap, a collagen-infused “facial shapewear” mask designed to contour the jawline overnight. The product sold out within hours, sparking conversation for its innovative design that merges Skims’ shapewear expertise with skincare technology.
While the official launch date for Skims Beauty has yet to be revealed, one thing is clear — a new chapter for the brand has already begun.
