French luxury maison Dior has announced that creative director Jonathan Anderson will present his first cruise collection for the house in Los Angeles on May 13, 2026. The venue has not yet been disclosed, with further details expected to be announced at a later date.

Why Los Angeles Matters

The announcement comes just after Dior unveiled its new large-scale flagship on Rodeo Drive, a notable opening designed by American architect Peter Marino, whose signature aesthetic has shaped many of LVMH’s most prestigious boutiques. The new store instantly stands as a symbolic testament to the house’s American presence.

Although Dior has not explicitly stated why it chose Los Angeles as the stage for Anderson’s cruise debut, the broader market context offers a clear explanation. The United States remains one of the world’s most powerful luxury markets, where spending has rebounded on the back of recovering tourism and increased purchasing power driven by the weak dollar. As major luxury houses refocus their strategies on the U.S. consumer, Dior’s decision reads less like a coincidence and more like a calculated, strategic step.

A Wave of Luxury Houses Returning to the U.S.

Dior’s announcement follows a series of high-profile moves by other French maisons. A few days earlier, Louis Vuitton revealed plans to stage its Cruise 2027 show in New York on May 20, while Chanel is set to present its Métiers d’Art collection in New York on December 2, 2025. Together, the three most influential French luxury houses are underscoring a decisive shift back toward the American market.

Last month, U.S. Vogue also made headlines with the fourth edition of Vogue World, titled “Vogue World 2025: Hollywood.” Held on the historic Paramount Pictures lot in Los Angeles, the event brought together models, actors, dancers, and musicians for a cinematic showcase that blended iconic film costumes with the latest fashion collections—an unforgettable night of Hollywood spectacle.

Dior’s Ongoing Relationship with the U.S.

This will not be the first time Dior has chosen the United States for a cruise setting. In 2017, then–artistic director Maria Grazia Chiuri staged a Western-inspired show in Calabasas, while in 2023, Dior Men’s creative director Kim Jones presented a resort collection on Venice Beach, created in collaboration with artist Eli Russell Linnetz.
