On December 4, Loewe opened its new flagship store, Casa Loewe Ginza, in Tokyo. Located at the iconic intersection of Chuo-dori and Miyuki-dori, the store stands as the largest Loewe location in Japan and the second largest worldwide.
Spanning four floors and 965 square meters, the new flagship offers the full breadth of the Loewe universe—from women’s and men’s ready-to-wear to bags, shoes, jewelry, eyewear, leather goods, home scents, and lifestyle accessories.
A Dialogue Between Ginza’s History and Spanish Aesthetics
The store’s design blends the intimacy of an art collector’s residence with the craftsmanship-driven ethos that defines Loewe. Handcrafted “muddy green” ceramic tiles flow seamlessly from the exterior façade into the interior, their uneven glazing and subtle indentations reflecting light in nuanced ways. The deep green tone is inspired by Ginza’s origins as a low-lying wetland during the Edo period.
Inside, a mix of natural stones—such as Ancient Green and Sahara Brown marble—adds visual depth, while brass window frames subtly nod to Ginza’s history as a hub for coin minting. A central staircase wrapped in green tiles connects all four floors, with a handcrafted wooden handrail curving upward to draw natural light through the space. The interplay of stone, wood, ceramic, and concrete gives the interior a fresh, fluid rhythm.
Immersive Experiences on the Fourth Floor: Scents, Gifting, and the World’s First Gift Counter
The fourth floor offers visitors a new, immersive way to experience the world of Loewe. A fragrance zone allows guests to explore the brand’s bath and home scents, while a personalization corner invites them to customize charms and mini bags—an offering particularly suited to Ginza’s strong gifting culture.
The store also introduces the world’s first Loewe Gift Counter, where customers can purchase traditional Spanish sweets such as palmeras and polvorones, as well as chocolates. To celebrate the opening, limited-edition cookies created by Japanese icing artist Fiocco are available for a short time.
Casa Loewe as a House of Craft: Artworks Across Four Floors
Throughout the store, visitors can discover art and craft pieces amassed by Loewe from around the world. On the first floor, Anousha Hamilton’s lacquer-and-glass Kimono Lamp emits a soft glow, while on the fourth floor, a neon work by Cerith Wyn Evans interacts dynamically with the natural light filtering through the windows. Works by notable artists such as Lucie Rie, Eliot Hodgkin, and Albert York appear throughout the space, quietly expressing Loewe’s long-standing commitment to craftsmanship and art.
Japanese artists are also prominently featured. These include:
– Kunimasa Aoki’s ceramic work Realm of Living Things 19, winner of the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize 2025
– Hafu Matsumoto’s bamboo craft-inspired leather piece Basket 6
– A collaborative ceramic vessel by Kazunori Hamana and kintsugi master Yukiko Kuroda, highlighting Japan’s philosophy of restoration
Furniture by George Nakashima and Gerrit Rietveld sits alongside Loewe’s own signature pieces, while Isamu Noguchi’s Akari lamps provide a delicate counterpoint. The newly introduced Loewe Recrafted Coffee Table, made from 95% surplus leather from the brand’s atelier, embodies Loewe’s evolving commitment to sustainability and material innovation.
Store-Exclusive Launch: Hammock Flip in “Light Ghost”
To mark the opening, Loewe has released a Casa Loewe Ginza–exclusive color of its new Hammock Flip bag, Light Ghost. It can also be paired with the “Cats Drawstring Pouch Small,” sold separately, for a layered styling look.
