AI Olfaction Platform Osmo Raises Approximately $70 Million in Series B

Osmo

On February 4, Osmo, a digital fragrance design company, announced that it has completed a $70 million Series B funding round. The newly raised capital will be used to accelerate the deployment of the company’s AI-powered olfaction technology, Olfactory Intelligence, not only within the fragrance industry but also across healthcare, environmental monitoring, and public safety sectors.

The round was led by Two Sigma Ventures, with new participation from Valor, Atreides, Amplo, Alumni Ventures, Collab Fund, and Lumina Partners. In addition, Patrick Collison, CEO and co-founder of Stripe, joined the round as an individual investor. With this funding, Osmo’s total capital raised to date has reached $130 million.

An AI Olfaction Platform Covering the Entire Fragrance Lifecycle

Osmo provides an end-to-end AI olfaction platform that supports the entire product lifecycle, from fragrance formulation and development through manufacturing and packaging. By combining proprietary molecular data, machine learning, and human creativity, the platform enables large consumer goods companies to reduce fragrance costs and shorten time-to-market. At the same time, it offers emerging brands realistic access to custom fragrance development, which has traditionally been cost-prohibitive.

The company is currently deploying its AI olfaction technology to a broad range of clients, from global consumer product companies to early-stage brands, advancing the democratization of fragrance creation.

Investors on the Potential of “Digital Olfaction”

Colin Beirne, Partner at Two Sigma Ventures and newly appointed board observer at Osmo, commented on the investment as follows: “Osmo is unlocking an entirely new sensory dimension for AI. Osmo proves this technology works commercially, democratizing access to custom fragrance development that was previously available only to brands spending millions. But fragrance is just the beginning. We’re backing the infrastructure layer for digital olfaction, with applications spanning healthcare diagnostics to environmental monitoring.”

Technologies that treat scent as data—capable of being reproduced and transmitted—are opening up new possibilities not only in fragrance, but also in fields such as medical diagnostics and environmental monitoring.

New Executive Team Strengthens Growth Strategy

Alongside the funding announcement, Osmo introduced a new executive leadership team to support its next phase of growth. Mike Rytokoski was appointed Chief Commercial Officer, bringing more than 30 years of CPG industry experience from leadership roles at Unilever, Clorox, and Goodyear. Mateusz Brzuchacz, who has built extensive expertise in the fragrance industry at Givaudan and IFF, joined as Chief Operating Officer. Nate Pearson, who has overseen financial operations at high-growth companies including Tesla and Lagunitas, was named Chief Financial Officer.

In addition, Osmo welcomed Boet Brinkgreve as an independent board member. Brinkgreve brings deep experience at the intersection of science and premium consumer markets, having led fragrance operations at dsm-firmenich and the fragrance division at Richemont. By assembling leadership with strong commercial, operational, and financial expertise, Osmo aims to further solidify its growth foundation.

Osmo’s Vision: How Scent Can Transform Industries

Alex Wiltschko, CEO and founder of Osmo, described the significance of this milestone: “What excites me most is that we’re building technology that will fundamentally change how entire industries harness the power of scent to improve the health and wellbeing of humans. With this funding and our new executive team, we’re building the commercial, operational, and financial capabilities to truly scale Olfactory Intelligence within the fragrance industry and beyond.”

Osmo was founded in 2022 as a spin-off from Google Brain, led by Wiltschko. In 2024, the company achieved Scent Teleportation, enabling the full digitization of scent with no human intervention, and built the industry’s largest structured scent data library. This Series B round marks a critical step in translating Osmo’s vision of the future of scent into a scalable industrial infrastructure.
