On April 7, Paris-based luxury brand Alaïa released its new denim line, “Alaïa Denim,” exclusively through its retail stores worldwide. The collection is centered on the theme “A Study of the Body” — Alaïa’s answer to one of fashion’s most enduring questions: what does the perfect fit truly mean for the female form?
Redefining Denim as a Second Skin
At the heart of this line lies a fundamental reexamination of denim as a material. Through one year of research and refinement, the fabric has been repositioned as a second skin — one that follows every curve, shapes the body, and holds it with precision. A subtle tension between structure and softness, control and ease, runs through the entire collection as its defining thread.
Six Silhouettes, for Every Body
The lineup comprises six silhouettes: Bootcut, Palazzo, Fit and Flare, Round, Skinny, and Straight. Rooted in the House’s longstanding vision of femininity, each shape is designed to suit every body type — a distilled proposal of form in its most essential expression.
Craftsmanship Guaranteed by Japanese Manufacturing
The denim itself is made in Japan. Indigo is rope-dyed to achieve depth and permanence, while each piece undergoes a series of treatments — hand-washing, over-dyeing, shaving, and laser work — that go far beyond surface finishing. These processes are integral to the sculptural intent embedded in every garment.
It is this philosophy that leads Alaïa to describe denim as “a material of time.” The patina that accumulates through wear — shaped by movement, gesture, and the repetition of daily life — is not incidental. It is, in fact, the collection’s ultimate destination.
Campaign Visuals
The visual campaign was photographed by Sam Rock, with long-time friend of the House, model Mona Tougaard, in front of the lens.
