Courrèges Names Drew Henry as Artistic Director

On March 30, the French maison Courrèges announced the appointment of Drew Henry as its artistic director. The decision comes shortly after the departure of Nicolas Di Felice was revealed, marking a transition into a new phase for the brand.

Henry, who is originally from South Africa, is set to assume the role in May 2026. His debut collection is expected to be presented in a runway format during Paris Fashion Week in September of the same year.

In a statement, the brand commented, “His appointment consolidates the strong momentum Courrèges has built in recent years and marks a new chapter for the maison.”

François-Henri Pinault, chairman of Artémis, stated, “Drew Henry is a great creative talent with a clear point of view. His experience and understanding of today’s fashion landscape make him the ideal person to lead the next phase of Courrèges.”

Henry, 38, was born in Mpumalanga, South Africa. After building his foundation at LISOF in Johannesburg, he went on to earn a master’s degree in fashion from Central Saint Martins in London.

In the early stages of his career, he joined the design team at Céline under Phoebe Philo. He later took on a key role in ready-to-wear development at London-based JW Anderson. In 2020, he rejoined Philo’s project, overseeing design for the launch of her eponymous brand. More recently, he has been serving as senior design director at Burberry under Daniel Lee, contributing to the brand’s creative direction.

Henry commented, “André Courrèges believed in clothes that made sense for the way people live. I have always been attracted to work that feels modern, useful and direct. In joining this iconic maison, I feel a strong responsibility to honour its history by bringing my own perspective.”

Marie Leblanc, CEO of Courrèges, added, “His creative talent and contemporary sensibility make him a perfect fit for the maison. Together, we aim to accelerate its international expansion and broaden its global reach, while remaining faithful to the brand’s French heritage.”

Di Felice’s tenure not only revitalized Courrèges but also redefined its philosophy for the contemporary era. That legacy is now passed on to Henry. How the brand will evolve under his direction remains to be seen—his debut collection at Paris Fashion Week in September will offer the first indication.
