Giorgio Armani Designs the Opening Ballet Costumes for the 68th Vienna Opera Ball

The Milan-born luxury brand Giorgio Armani has designed the costumes for 16 pairs of dancers who performed in the opening ceremony of the 68th Vienna Opera Ball, one of the world’s most prestigious social and cultural events. The evening took place at the historic Wiener Staatsoper. In this emblem of international cultural excellence, Armani’s aesthetic intersected with the expressive language of ballet.

During the ceremony, the Wiener Staatsballett, led by Artistic Director Alessandra Ferri, who assumed the role this year, presented a corps de ballet performance. The project was born from a long-standing relationship of trust with the renowned dancer Ferri and stands as one of Armani’s most recent late-career undertakings.

This costume creation goes beyond the realm of stage design. It reaffirms the dialogue between the brand and the world of performing arts, as well as a deep affinity with international cultural excellence. Armani’s signature restrained lines, refined silhouettes, and elegance free from excessive ornamentation conveyed a quiet yet unmistakable presence within the dynamic format of a large ensemble performance.

On the evening of the event, Alessandra Ferri also appeared in a powder blue silk tulle gown from the Giorgio Armani collection. The long dress, adorned with delicate baguette embroidery details, exuded a sense of graceful sophistication befitting the celebratory atmosphere of the Vienna Opera Ball.
