On January 15, Moncler and Rick Owens unveiled the first-ever summer collection from their collaborative line, Moncler + Rick Owens. Drawing on the stark contrast between Berlin’s Brutalist architecture and Moncler’s long-established expertise in outdoor performance, the collection proposes a new summer wardrobe designed for moving along the edges of the city.
At the core of the collection lies a dialogue between the heavy, monolithic presence of Berlin’s Brutalist buildings and the pastoral calm symbolized by greenery. This collision of opposing elements is captured in the term “brucolic,” a neologism coined by Rick Owens himself. Through this concept, the collection portrays moments where the boundaries between city and nature dissolve, grounded in the realism of functional clothing.
Looks That Move Seamlessly from City to Outdoors
The styling—pairing quilted shorts and fluid, asymmetrical jersey skirts with tonal hiking socks and the Trailgrip Megalace sneakers—is designed to transition seamlessly from urban streets to rugged outdoor terrain. It marks a compelling intersection of Moncler’s technical performance expertise and Rick Owens’ sculptural aesthetic.
The color palette is anchored in black, dark dust, and vintage olive, with the addition of a new accent shade, carnelian red. Angular “Geo Camo” quilting and graphic embroidery draw inspiration from the concrete façades of Brutalist architecture, lending the collection an overall sense of structural tension and visual strength.
Exploring Gender-Neutral Silhouettes
Lightweight outerwear crafted from leather and nylon, summer-ready windbreakers, and relaxed jersey pieces are reinterpreted through playful experimentation with proportion and silhouette. From relaxed bomber jackets to waist-cinched cropped styles and exaggerated shoulder lines, a gender-neutral aesthetic runs consistently throughout the collection.
The Campaign’s Emphasis on Human Connection
The campaign imagery was shot by photographer Juergen Teller. Appearing in the visuals are Rick Owens and his wife and muse, Michèle Lamy, alongside Teller himself and his wife and creative partner, Dovile Drizyte. Capturing unguarded moments of shared kisses between the subjects, the photographs quietly emphasize themes of love, passion, and human connection, reinforcing the emotional dimension of the collection.
The Moncler + Rick Owens Spring/Summer 2026 collection is available from January 15 at select Moncler boutiques and via the brand’s official e-commerce site.
