Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo 2025 Fall/Winter Official Schedule and Participating Brands

Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo 2025

Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo 2025 Fall/Winter will take place from March 17 to March 22, 2025, spanning six days. This season embraces the annual “FASHION FANFARE” theme, aiming to showcase Tokyo’s unique fashion culture while integrating a global perspective.

Paul Smith’s Participation and the Rise of New Brands

According to the Japan Fashion Week Organization (JFWO), 37 brands will take part in this season’s event. One of the most anticipated highlights is the runway debut of Paul Smith in Tokyo, supported by Rakuten’s “by R” project. Sir Paul Smith, who has visited Tokyo over 100 times, considers the city a deep source of inspiration, making this showcase a significant moment for the brand.

This season also shines a spotlight on rising brands. Danish sportswear giant Hummel has enlisted Masanori Morikawa to helm its new line, HUMMEL 00—a collection that seamlessly blends the brand’s century-old legacy in functionality and design with cutting-edge technology and modern aesthetics. Other noteworthy newcomers include MSML, a brand that fuses music and fashion, and YOUJIYOUNG, which reimagines early 20th-century classic fashion through a contemporary lens. These diverse brands will introduce fresh perspectives and bold innovations to the Tokyo runway.

Tokyo Fashion Award and Global Expansion

Before the official launch of Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo 2025 Fall/Winter, an opening presentation and party will be held on March 16 at 18:00 at Spiral Garden. This event will feature a presentation by Ssstein, the recipient of the FASHION PRIZE OF TOKYO 2025, a fashion award designed to promote and support designers on a global scale. Ssstein previously showcased its runway collection at Paris Fashion Week in January, making this event a homecoming celebration.

One of the key programs this season is the “TOKYO FASHION AWARD 2025 WINNERS’ EVENT”, which supports promising Tokyo-based fashion brands in their expansion into the global market. Eight award-winning brands will unveil their 2025-26 Fall/Winter collections. Notably, KANEMASA PHIL, which has gained recognition in Europe, and HATRA, which blends art and fashion, will present their runway shows. Many of these brands have already exhibited their collections at showrooms during Paris Fashion Week in January, making their Tokyo showcases a significant milestone in their international journey.

Additionally, on March 21 at 13:30, TELMA, the Grand Prize winner of the JFW NEXT BRAND AWARD 2025, will present its latest collection. This marks TELMA’s second consecutive season debuting a runway show, following its successful launch last season.

Diverse Lineup of Special Events

This season also includes a wide range of related events. Following last year’s success, “TOKYO AI Fashion Week 2025” will return to explore the potential of generative AI in fashion. A new initiative for this year is the integration of “TOKYO TEXTILE SCOPE (TTS),” a comprehensive textile exhibition set to take place in May.

Moreover, on March 18 and 19, the Paris-born international trade show “TRANOÏ TOKYO A/W 25-26” will be held at Bellesalle Shibuya First. This event will bring together over 170 brands from Japan and abroad, featuring guest brands such as JEANNE FRIOT and GAUCHERE, two of France’s most influential names in contemporary fashion.

Additionally, Panasonic will host the “Garment Steamer Touch & Try Event” from March 20 to March 22 at TODA Hall & Conference Tokyo. Visitors will have the opportunity to test Panasonic’s top-tier garment steamers and learn about proper fabric care techniques tailored to different materials and garment shapes.
