Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo 2024 Fall/Winter will be held for six days from Monday, March 11 to Saturday, March 16, 2024.
According to details released by the Japan Fashion Week Organization (JFWO), a total of 43 brands will participate this season, of which 35 brands will present their collections in physical and 8 brands in digital. The main venues for the show will be Shibuya Hikarie and Omotesando Hills.
Under the annual slogan of “OPEN, FASHION WEEK,” events will be held so that the general public can participate, and global communications will be strengthened to realize “a fashion week that conveys the appeal of TOKYO fashion and can be enjoyed by all.”
HIDESIGN will open this season’s Fashion Week with a memorable collection that will be the culmination of its past efforts and will be introduced to the market for the first time. KANAKO SAKAI, winner of the Grand Prix in the “JFW NEXT BRAND AWARD 2024” brand support program by JFWO, will hold its second show on March 13 at 19:00, following its debut collection in the previous season.
In addition, “by R,” Rakuten’s project to promote the Japanese fashion scene, will support the Finnish design house Marimekko in holding a show. To celebrate Marimekko’s first participation in “by R,” limited products will be sold on “Rakuten Fashion” and an interview with creative director Rebecca Bay will be available on a special website.
Some brands have won awards at the recent Tokyo Fashion Week or attracted attention through “by R” will also participate including AKIKOAOKI, ANREALAGE, ChikaKisada, FETICO, HARUNOBUMURATA, IRENISA, TANAKA, VIVIANO, and YOHEIOHNO.
Before the official schedule, “FASHION PRIZE OF TOKYO 2024” award-winning brand, M A S U will hold a “Rakuten Fashion Week TOKYO 2024 A/W SPECIALON-SCHEDULE RECEPTION PARTY” on March 10.
As a related event for Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo A/W 2024, there will be a press event by TRANOÏ, a Paris-based exhibition that has formed a partnership with the JFWO. Other events include Denim RunTOKYO co-hosted with Tokyo Creative Salon, and the exhibition of SPECIAL COLLECTION by J∞QUALITY, which aims to revitalize Japanese textile production areas and expand purely Japanese products.
