On February 9, Tommy Hilfiger presented its Fall/Winter 2024 collection at New York Fashion Week.
The brand has not participated in the New York Fashion Week since its fall/winter 2022 collection, so this was the first show in two years.
For the venue, Hilfiger chose one of New York’s most iconic locations, the Grand Central Oyster Bar in Grand Central Station to conduct the show. Many celebrities including Vogue’s Anna Wintour, actor Sylvester Stallone, actress Kelly Rutherford, Twice’s Nayeon, and rapper Central Cee, came to witness Tommy Hilfiger’s “New York Moments.”
Tommy Hilfiger, the brand known for introducing American preppy to the world, showcased the American prep and contemporary style on this night as well.
The opening look featured a roomy, simple shirt, wide-leg beige slacks, a baseball cap, and sneakers. Oversized silhouettes continued in both men’s and women’s wear, and a fusion of typical American and street style was expressed through wide-leg pants, baggy knits, and excessive layering.
For women’s wear, black knits, logo baseball jackets, and beautiful jackets were paired with pleated mini-skirts and knee-high leather boots, creating a youthful yet graceful feminine appearance. Loose, bold striped knits were accented with long knit scarves and paired with caps, sneakers, and shoulder bags.
These combinations highlight the unique yet distinct American preppy mood of Tommy Hilfiger, balancing the collection as a whole and infusing it with a new essence.
For the show’s grand finale, Jon Batiste appeared on the runway with Hilfiger and brought the crowd on its feet with an energetic performance of his hit song “Freedom.” The Grammy Award-winning artist danced with guests, sang a beautiful serenade to Anna Wintour, and even climbed on the top of furniture to excite the crowd and charm every inch of the venue.
Capturing the contrasting styles of street fashion and classic prep, the Fall/Winter 2024 collection showed how Hilfiger draws inspiration from both aesthetics. As a brand that represents the essence of American fashion, the show truly embodied and perfectly condensed the “American spirit.”
Note that the brand achieved a 4% increase in brand revenue to $1.2 billion in the third quarter of last year. This proves that Tommy Hilfiger is one of the most successful American designers following Ralph Lauren.
