VIKTOR & ROLF Spring Couture 2023 A strange view of the world with upside-down and diagonal dresses

On January 25th, Dutch fashion brand VIKTOR & ROLF presented its Spring 2023 Couture collection at the Intercontinental Le Grand Hotel in Paris.

Even though Viktor & Rolf has always been developing a collection that is both conceptual and elegant with an unconventional and challenging approach, this time it was even more impressive.

The show started with a soft pastel-colored tulle dress that felt the arrival of spring, but the scene gradually turned into something strange, as if “Marie Antoinette had wandered into Wonderland.”

Some dresses appear to fly off the body, while others fall horizontally forward as if the model and dress collided at right angles. Another dress appeared to be one-third completely upside down on the waist, with the rest seemingly two steps away from the model.

At this show, the brand boldly plays on the idea of deconstruction by exposing the corset beneath the garment, questioning how traditional and familiar dress should be worn differently. The audience’s vision was bewildered, and their playful spirit, which broke the “normal” of everyday life, created an even more attractive silhouette for each piece.
