On March 23, Spanish global retailer Zara unveiled a collaboration collection titled “Vatisimo” with New York-based designer Willy Chavarria.
The collection centers on Chavarria’s Chicano cultural roots, embodying themes of culture, freedom of identity, and fashion on a global scale. The name “Vatisimo” is derived from the superlative form of “vato,” a colloquial term in the Chicano community meaning friends, partners, and loved ones—symbolizing friendship, solidarity, and love.

The lineup spans ready-to-wear for both men and women, alongside accessories, jewelry, and footwear. Priced between $25 and $529, the range is designed with a global audience in mind. Chavarria’s signature precise tailoring and strong silhouettes are evident throughout, with standout pieces including structured pencil skirts, wide-leg trousers, and sharply angled shorts.
Material-wise, the collection incorporates a diverse selection of textiles, including Italian fabrics, leather, cupro, denim, knits, and jerseys. Raw-edge shirts, relaxed tailoring, denim dresses, floral blouses, and feminine silk slips create a wardrobe that moves fluidly between workwear influences and refined elegance. Graphic T-shirts and hoodies featuring the “Chavarria” logo, as well as premium leather goods, are also included.
In the lookbook, Zara describes the collaboration as follows: “This partnership brings together Willy’s creative perspective to a worldwide platform without dilution and without compromise for both men and women with discerning style. ‘Vatisimo’ is rooted in dignity. It is about visibility. It is about sharing the distinct. ‘Vatisimo’ is the Willy Chavarria aesthetic with a wider reach.”
The campaign visuals were directed by photographer and filmmaker Glen Luchford alongside Chavarria, featuring supermodel Christy Turlington and actor Alberto Guerra. Shot in Mexico, the campaign draws inspiration from telenovelas, presenting a dramatic narrative shaped by power, jealousy, and desire.

The collection will launch globally on March 26, 2026, available in selected stores, online, and at a pop-up store located at 73 Spring Street in New York City.
Zara also recently announced a two-year creative partnership with John Galliano, who is currently working on reinterpreting the brand’s archives through a series of seasonal collections. His debut collection for Zara is scheduled for release in September 2026.
