Former LVMH Talent Katia de Lasteyrie Launches “Quiet Tech Jewelry” Brand SPKTRL

Katia de Lasteyrie, who led innovation for years at the Watches & Jewelry division of LVMH, has launched her own brand SPKTRL, a concept that merges high jewelry craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology. The brand’s debut piece introduces a new category of jewelry: a ring that communicates notifications not through sound or screens, but through light and color.

The ring features a CVD lab-grown diamond and is distinguished by its screenless design. Paired with a minimalist companion app, the ring allows users to receive only high-priority alerts, customized through color settings. For instance, a message from a loved one might trigger a soft blue light, while an important work update could be shown in vivid magenta — all determined by the user.

“Our technology isn’t designed to replace phones or make you faster but to give you back control,” explains de Lasteyrie.

“The stone is the interface, and the color is the language. Personalized to each user, our ring communicates important messages in a novel way that is truly mindful of their time and attention. From the outside, the ring looks like a piece of classic high jewelry, with a level of refinement that would blend seamlessly alongside the traditional designs found on Place Vendôme. Yet inside, the ring discreetly incorporates AI-supported notification technology, embodying the idea of “quiet tech” — technology that works silently and elegantly in the background.

Though design-led, the SPKTRL ring holds the potential to create an entirely new category in the jewelry world, much like the impact smartwatches had on the traditional watch industry.

During her time at LVMH, de Lasteyrie was deeply involved in developing Louis Vuitton’s high jewelry collections and interactive luxury objects, continually exploring the intersection of technology and emotion. With SPKTRL, she envisions a future where jewelry is no longer just ornamental but serves as a meaningful interface for modern life.

Manufactured in France, the ring is made from a blend of titanium and high-precision metals. Pre-orders are expected to begin in fall 2025, with prices starting from €1,000. More information and pre-order details are available at the brand’s official website.
